Enterprise Server is scaled for busy networks which may expect
heavy directory access corporate-wide. The typical uses are
Single Sign-On authentication, Identity
Management, Device
Management, or Contact Management for Global Addressbooks or
Mobile Addressbooks.
When used: required if 250 concurrent connections and/or
large directory databases greater than 10,000 entries are
anticipated. Scales to
millions of entries.
How used: High availability may be sustained via replication
or mirroring, and dynamic load balancing switches. Alternatively
static load balancing may be done using embedded referrals
to distribute the directory.
