After the organization, administrator and system information is entered, the final step in the installation is to initialize the database. The default location* for this is C:\USR\LOCAL\DATABASE. A simple default LDIF file, and slapd.conf configuration file is created from the information you provided. This step converts the LDIF into an optimized indexed database, which initially will contain entries to define your organization, and one-person entry for the administrator.

NOTE: After installation is complete, you may use the Directory Manager to change the database path to wherever you wish, and reinitialize.

After completing the process, Initialization complete message will appear.

Once installation is completed, you will see a folder that contains the components to begin configuration and startup. This will appear as the AE Directory Group:

Windows 95/98/NT/XP and greater will also show a walking menu under Start / Programs / AE Directory.

Congratulations! The installation is finished. You are now ready to start the server and test it.
